Local Chefs Honoured

The Nova Scotia Association of Chefs and Cooks held their 41st Chefs Gala Awards Dinner Dance on Oct 6 at the Lord Nelson Hotel.  Emcee for the evening was Branch President Don “Busch” Dubay. 

The meal was prepared by host Chef Tahir Salamat and his talented brigade of cooks.

 

The following awards were presented:

CLAY BURRELL AWARD - NSCC culinary student award went to Michelle Delorey.

 

JUNIOR CHEF OF THE YEAR - went to Ian Milner from the Prince George Hotel. Ian was also this year’s provincial representative to the 2004 Knorr/CCF Junior Culinary Challenge in PEI.

 

PARTNER OF THE YEAR- Elaine Kent-Evans of Comeau`s Seafood Ltd. 

 

CULINARIAN OF THE YEAR - Chef Raj Gupta of the Casino Nova Scotia

 

ESTABLISHMENT OF THE YEAR - Casino Nova Scotia

 

PRESIDENT'S CITATION - This is a special award presented to an individual who the President feels has been of special assistance to the Association. This year, Bud Bremner was the honoree.

 

CHEF OF THE YEAR - This award is determined by a vote of their peers, and goes to a chef who in the past year has made significant contributions to the association and the culinary community. The 2004 Chef of the Year is Raj Gupta of the Casino Nova Scotia.
